How to Reset an Apple iMac to Factory Settings

The first thing you need to do is restart your Mac while holding down the command and R keys until the Apple logo comes.

3. Click the Disk Utility icon and then click continue. Click on your startup disk from the sidebar and then click the Erase tab.
4. Make assured Mac OS Extended is selected in the format popup menu.
5. Click the Erase button.
6. Then click the Desk Utility menu and select Quit.
